Table Tops Guide
Ok, we are bound to say it anyway, but all of our tops are beautiful. They are all constructed with the expert knowledge gained from many of years of experience, so you can guarantee the top of your table will last, probably out last our life time even, we guarantee it. But which one do you choose?
To help you, here is a handy guide to which top is what. Remember, any size, any colour, even if we don’t show it on our website.
My Scandi Farmhouse range
Scandi Farmhouse Top
Constructed in planks giving you the much loved grooves down the entire table top. Unlike most, we even groove the underside for authenticity which you can see on the ends. The top itself is rustic but only by its own natural being, you don’t get any usage marks, dints, saw marks or stains that you see in other tops. It is sanded smooth to allow the wax to bring out its natural beauty. Typically 32mm in thickness. Click the photos to see more examples.
Reclaimed Farmhouse Top
A top with a story. We leave in any small holes, saw marks, usage or age marks, stains and pitting to ensure you get a truly authentic piece of reclaimed timber. Simply we don’t mess about with it. A new table for you but one that holds some history and natural character. This is a planked top but only naturally, we make no effort to ensure the planking groove is identical across the top. Some of the planks even have a slight warp to them, if this is an issue we recommend the rustic top as an alternative. A great top if you have kids that use the kitchen table alot, any marks they make blend in. Typically 34-38mm in thickness. Click the photos to see more examples.
Scandi Rustic Farmhouse Top
Our premium farmhouse top but with added character. Whilst we do sand this top, we sand it in a way that leaves in any rustic markings and character. It is treated with our unique blend of ‘rusticness’ giving you a top that is truly like no other, no two are ever the same. It sports small dints, saw marks, bashes and bruises. The effect is fantastic. Planked like the farmhouse top. A very forgiving top if you have kids, if they mark it, you just add a bit of wax and the marks gone. Typically 32mm in thickness. Click the photos to see more examples.
Scandi Scrubbed or Slabbed Top
Don’t like the grooves? This is the top for you. You can have it like the premium farmhouse top just without the grooves or you can have it scrubbed to make it look like it has had a lot of use and cleaning over the years. The scrubbed effect is great for that old farmhouse look where the table has come out of the servants quarters. Typically 32mm in thickness, less where is has been scrubbed for many years 😉 Click the photos to see more examples.
My Premium Top Range
Grey Top (available in either slabbed or planked)
The newest top of them all. A trendy grey wash, finished in a clear wax for protection. You can have this one slabbed or planked and it looks great either way. Fits great among many different colour schemes and even on the more ‘out there’ table colours. Typically Available in 32mm thickness.
Premium Oak Top
Durable and reliable. Oak is a very strong and hard to dint timber which makes this one a good choice if you want to keep your top in great condition. Whilst you can have a wax finish, the usual finish for oak is a natural oil. This oil really accentuates the grain bringing the timber to life. The oil finish is also very forgiving with light scratches and very easy to maintain. A quick coat with the oil usually fixes any light scratches and the top looks like new again. Typically 30mm in thickness. Click the photos to see more examples.
