The Man Behind The Furniture
Alan or AJ as some know him by, was born with the gift of carpentry. Passed down from generations of carpenter’s, it will be no surprise that AJ’s family has quite a few cabinet makers, carpenters and joiners among the tribe. Alan started using his talents professionally in the early 00’s. After taking on a house renovation of his own and much to the annoyance of Miss AJ, he set up a small workshop, in the front room. He built a piece of furniture for the house, which soon got noticed around his area.
Shortly after, Alan had built a business making furniture on commission for the local community, which soon branched out to the entire city of Nottingham and the shires. Today, Alan’s furniture is lighting up faces of Alicc customers throughout the world, working for some high profile clients, celebrities and many more, his furniture can be found far and wide around the globe.
His passion for timber and the crafting of furniture remains within his entire demeanor, even now he still plays a large role in crafting each piece and no single piece has ever left the premises, without Alan’s expert hands crafting it.
His passion for keeping the trade alive and producing it in Britain, shows with the some 3200 pieces he has crafted to date. The rustic markings and process to create this is also unique to Alan’s signature style.
Alan’s first commission:
Alicc furniture stands for quality, premium yet rustic furniture. Alicc the name is a hybrid, Al for Alan and the accent above the C, which can’t be written with an English keyboard, stands for ‘ture‘ as in furniTURE. The remaining IC? Say it all out loud; “Alan I C Furniture”.
